About Me
Hi I’m Charly Smith, a 26-year-old Aussie musician (currently based in Canada) and Graduate from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Bluegrass, Old-Time, and Country Music.
I started playing/performing music at a young age. Piano is the first instrument I learned and along the way picked up guitar having lessons that focused more on Rock/Charts/Pop/Indie music. While at Uni I dove into the worlds of Bluegrass, Old-Time, Celtic, and Country music. During my final semester, I directed my own band which was a Celtic Trio called "Single Pringlez" (scroll for more details below).
I have performed a variety of different gigs over the years crossing many genres (Celtic, Pop, Rock, Country, Bluegrass etc) in Bars and Venues around Downtown JC to Charity Events, Weddings, Galas and the Annual Bluegrass Half Marathon.
My goal is to be a touring musician in a band playing guitar/keys and to progress into more of a Musical Director/Band Leader role. Even though I'm from Australia I've grown up living in Macau, UK, and America visiting various other countries along the way, so adapting to new situations/cultures has become second nature.
